3rd ANNUAL JEWLICIOUS SUMMERFEST TO COMBINE MUSIC, CULTURE AND SUMMER CAMP FUN
August 16 – 19, Brandeis, CA

LOS ANGELES (April 10, 2012) – Jewlicious Festival will present the third annual SummerFest Music and Summer Camp Festival, from August 16-19th in Brandeis, CA. The four-day festival will bring participants back to summer camp for concerts performed by world-renown musicians, gourmet food, and a weekend steeped in cultural experiences at the historic Brandeis Bardin Campus of American Jewish University.

Festival attendees will also delight in the numerous community and recreational activities that will be held throughout the weekend. Activities to be offered include horse-back riding, rock-climbing, midnight hikes, bonfires, swimming, sports, yoga, Sabbath banquets, folk dance, yoga, wine and pickle making, and of course relaxing with friends in the scenic Simi Valley mountains.

“SummerFest is a unique experience where people celebrate Jewish culture, participate in summer camp activities, and stay up all night dancing,” noted Yonah Bookstein, founder and director of the Jewlicious Festival. “Participants can stay in hotel quality suites, bunks or camp-out on the lush lawns. The programming and activities are run by experts and the food is gourmet. SummerFest is a celebration unlike any other.”

We are seeking to hire a creative and highly motivated person to lead our development efforts. This is an exciting opportunity for a up-and-coming star to play a key role in our organizational growth. L.A.’s Fool’s Gold play around the world with music that bridges genres, crosses continents and even transcends language. The brainchild of Israeli-American singer-songwriter Luke Top and guitarist Lewis Pesacov, Fool’s Gold has blossomed into a collective that has come up with the soundtrack to a multinational backyard party. It might ’80s dance floor-meets-Afro-pop, and we’re not going to pretend to know Congolese beats from Eritrean, or gankoguis from chekeres, but the rhythms, and the riddims beneath the rhythms, simply exude the L word, no matter their DNA. Top’s soulful lyrics mix Hebrew and English, giving the band an otherwordly quality. And the melting-pot music holds it all together — Their signature song “Surprise Hotel’s” twittering guitar line gives you happy feet; “Poseidon” could be a synth-pop hit if any synths were involved; and “The World Is All There Is” is an open-hearted hymn filled with handclaps and chanting. The National Jewish Outreach Program (NJOP) recognized this week Rabbi Yonah Bookstein, Director of Jewlicious Festival, as one of its winners of its first-ever “Jewish Treats: Jewish Influencer Awards,” announcing the recipients as part of Social Media Week.
