We are thrilled to announce that festival world music rockers MOSHAV will be headlining at Camp Jewlicious!

Consistently rated as one of the best parts of our winter Jewlicious Festival, MOSHAV will be returning to LA in time for Camp.

Imagine the jamming of Phish, mixed with the vocal strength of Pearl Jam and the spiritual lyrics of U2, seasoned with a Middle-Eastern influence and you can begin to describe the unique sound of Moshav. They mix it up, injecting reggae and Middle Eastern rhythms into their rock, giving it an edgy ethnic sound that is hard to resist.

Every show they give 1000 percent, and leave you wanting more.

The count-down to Camp Jewlicious has begun! Less than three short weeks away! The camp will include all your favorite campactivities like sports, swimming, mountain biking, horseback riding, yoga, arts and crafts, dancing, music, and SO MUCH MORE….

There will also be several AMAZING sessions on Grassroots and Community Organizing where you can learn what it takes to bring your passion to the next level!!!

To accommodate everyone, we are making it even easier for you to participate!

Come early and take full advantage of the relaxing and picturesque camp on THURSDAY, AUGUST 19th at 5pm. We will have dinner shortly after and spend the evening around the campfire with lively music, dance, and good times. Additional programming will begin FRIDAY MORNING AUGUST 20th.

Who is going to rock Camp Jewlicious?

I am sure that you want to know. And we will tell you soon. We are keeping things under wraps for a few more days. In the meantime, you should know that the bands will be rocking, bringing amazing energy and style to the outdoor stage we are planning on putting together.

Under the stars, amid the eucalyptus trees, and with the mountains on the close horizon, the site for music could not be more special. The platform was built in the 1970′s, it’s totally retro.

In addition, we are converting an old barn/rec center into a late-night DJ space. Walking into this barn is walking back into the 1960′s. There are all kinds of cool old fixtures, and wooden rafters with flags and decorations. We’ll put a 21st century sound system inside, and let the beats pour out.

We have scanned through dozens of submissions, and been in touch with lots of artists. There are some great bands out there. We hope that in future years, every up and coming Jewish band, or band of Jews will make their way to Camp Jewlicious – but for now, we’re have two stages.

Over 4 days, students and young professionals from SoCal and beyond will gather at a beautiful Jewish camp and retreat center In the hills of Simi Valley, just forty-five minutes from Los Angeles at Brandeis Bardin Campus of American Jewish University.

On top of tons of outdoor summer camp fun, concerts, and Shabbat programs, you have a unique opportunity to learn how to promote and empower your cause from the best of the best at our first ever Grassroots Organizing Summit.

Like Jewlicious, there will be different programs to choose from. Like summer camp, the pace will be mellow, and about enjoying nature, fun games, and activities. We will have the ENTIRE camp to ourselves. No kids. Just adults 18+.

One of the most anticipated parts of the Festival is the Saturday night show. After a day of Sabbath rest, food and speakers, people just need to let it all out and at Jewlicious we try not to disappoint! This year’s show featured Kosha Dillz, Diwon, Electro Morocco, Rinat Gutman and Moshav with a surprise appearance by Matisyahu – first time on the main stage! Afterward, those who just had to dance enjoyed an afterparty featuring Diwon and DJ Eric Rosen with performances by Rinat Gutman and Kosha Dillz. You want more pics? In addition to being America’s largest Jewish Fraternity and being the first fraternity to set up shop in  Israel, AEPi has joined the ranks of Jewlicious Festival as an official sponsor for this year’s festival. AEPi is a more than a just a fraternity–it is a home and a social organization with 140 active chapters for Jews all over the United States and Canada. Interestingly enough, one of their other newest chapters, Chi Beta,  is on Jewlicious Festival’s home turf at CSULB.
Did Jewlicious play a part in helping this fledgling chapter of AEPi in Long Beach get off the ground? Who knows, but we are thrilled to have then on board with us this year @ Jewlicious Festival 6.0!

Mr. Alper is the founder of Noah’s Bagels on the West Coast and Bread and Circus on the East Coast. He is now a consultant to aspiring entrepreneurs and a dynamic motivational speaker. He has spoken at many national and local business and community groups, including the E2 Entrepreneur’s Conference in Detroit, the League of Women Voters, and the Young Entrepreneur’s Organization.

He has also been a guest speaker at the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley; the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University; and the University of Wisconsin School of Business. Mr. Alper is a student advisor at the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University.

World Boxing Association super welterweight champion!

Yay! Jewish Boxing Champ Foreman to attend Jewlicious

A native of Belarus, winner of 3 national Israeli boxing championships and the current WBA super welterweight champion of the world, Yuri Foreman may not have his own grill like George but so what? He’s the 1st Israeli World Boxing Champion and the only Boxing champion ever to be studying to be a Rabbi. What’s next for Yuri? He tried to get a fight with Manny Pacquiao, the WBO World welterweight champion, but Pacquiao opted instead to fight someone he was more likely to beat. Oh well. I guess we don’t know what’s next for Foreman professionally, but we DO know what’s next for him in terms of FUN!

Yes, because we like to be surrounded by tough guys who are also spiritual, we reached out and invited Foreman to the Jewlicious Festival, and he in turn accepted. What should Jewlicious Festival goers expect? Well, a general increase in both testosterone and spirituality and a talk from Yuri about Jewish identity. Or a seminar on how to kick ass. We’re not sure yet. We don’t really care, we’re just thrilled to have him and we all look forward to meeting him.
