Jewlicious Festival is proud to announce the return of  MATISYAHU, Jewlicious Festival’s Musical Patron, a Grammy Award nominated, and Gold Record Recording Artist. For the last few years, MATISYAHU’s signature acoustic set  — which he pioneered at Jewlicious Festival with Adam Weinberg in 2006 — has closed out the three day Festival.

Even with a busy schedule, Matisyahu and Tahli Miller are serious about Jewlicious Festival, putting their time and energy into what has come to define what a Jewish Festival in America can be.

About Matisyahu

Few artists make an impact as complete as the one Matisyahu made with his Top 40 hit “King Without a Crown:” Here was a true original, the song announced—a Hasidic Jewish musician from New York City singing reggae songs about his religious devotion. Fans responded to this one-of-a-kind voice, driving Youth, Matisyahu’s Grammy-nominated 2006 studio disc, to the top spot on Billboard’s reggae albums chart. That album, as well as Matisahu’s previous recording “Live at Stubb’s,” went Gold. His album, “Light,” which debuted in the top 20 on the Billboard charts, is out now on Epic Records. He just release “Live at Stubbs Vol II” to critical acclaim!

Matisyahu is the personification of harmony. He is a Hasidic Jewish musician from New York City known for blending traditional Jewish themes with reggae, rock, and hip-hop sounds. He pushes musical boundaries by incorporating a variety of genres to create unique sounds with deep messages that aim to unite and uplift. Matisyahu once said, “All of my songs are influenced and inspired by the teachings that inspire me. I want my music to have meaning, to be able to touch people and make them think. Chasidism teaches that music is ‘the quill of the soul.’ Music taps into a very deep place and speaks to us in a way that regular words can’t.”

Matisyahu prides himself on his close relationship with his fans, and has excelled at using today’s social networking tools to keep fans apprised of his whereabouts while on tour, as well as encouraging them to promote change via his “One Day For Change” partnership with Kenneth Cole. Matisyahu becomes the first American musician to utilize Posse, a unique ticketing platform that allows fans to promote Matisyahu shows on their social networking sites, when he embarks on a 40 date tour this Fall.

The 2010 Olympics selected Matisyahu’s hit song “One Day” as its theme song. It was featured in NBC’s television commercials promoting the games. The song shot up on all charts and has become an anthem for hope and a source of inspiration for people struggling to open their hearts and stay positive

Constantly striving to come up with exciting, innovative ways to bring his music and his message to fans across the globe, Matisyahu is an artist thriving in the present and always looking towards the future. (Appeared on www.Matisunplugged.com)
