(July 2010, Los Angeles): Jewlicious Festivals, and parent organization, JConnect, are proud to announce that Camp Jewlicious has been awarded a prestigious and competitive start-up grant from the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles Valley Alliance.
Over four days and three nights, August 19-22, 2010, students and young professionals from SoCal and beyond will gather at a beautiful Jewish camp and retreat center in the hills of Simi Valley, just forty-five minutes from Los Angeles at Brandeis Bardin Campus of American Jewish University.
On top of outdoor summer camp fun, concerts, and Shabbat programming, participants will also have a unique opportunity to learn how to promote and empower their organizations and causes from the best of the best at the first ever Grassroots Organizing Summit.
The Jewish Federation Valley Alliance every year requests proposals from Jewish, nonprofit organizations (including synagogues, social service agencies and programs) who seek funding for communal projects and programs serving five Valleys of Greater LA including Antelope, Conejo, San Fernando, Santa Clarita and Simi Valleys.
The Jewish Federation Valley Alliance serves a community of approximately 250,000 Jews (50 percent of the total estimated Jewish population of the Greater Los Angeles area), and engages in fundraising and community development initiatives that assist people in need here at home, in Israel and around the world.
For nearly 100 years, thanks to the generosity of our community, The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles (L.A.’s largest Jewish nonprofit) has been able to identify and fund a wide range of social service, educational and humanitarian programs and services and fulfill the mandate of tikkun olam, the healing of the world.
Camp Jewlicious is the newest installment of Jewlicious Festivals which began in 2004 and has over 3000 alumni from 24 states and 65 colleges and universities. Space is limited for Camp Jewlicious, and scholarships are available to eligible participants.
